HIPPY (Home Interaction Programme for Parents & Youngsters) is a home-based programme that supports parents in becoming actively involved in their four- and five-year-old children’s learning. HIPPY understands the critical role that parents play in their children’s education.

HIPPY has been running in Otara for a number of years under Great Potentials, who hold the licence and support the programmes running throughout New Zealand. Funding is through the Ministry of Social Development. In February 2013, Otara Health took on overseeing the programme in Otara.

The programme is currently based in Mayfield Primary School.
